Welcome
“All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely players:
They have their exits and their entrances;
And one man in his time plays many parts,”
Portrait photography has always been a way to document people over a period of time and offer a commentary on society. Social Interactionalists suggest that everyone performs a role, which is interpreted differently by other people. Peoples Perceptions is based on a combination of these and document how people perceive others based on just their faces. This exhibition gives you the chance to see what others have said and also reflect on how others perceive you and what you do for them to perceive you in that way.
HI Everyone,
I am Nina Osei-Armah, this page is for my third year photography project where I will be posting images of individuals (Click Here For Photos) which I hope will get you to assess how you perceive people. I feel that we all definitely always have something to say about someone, regardless of if we know them or not, this goes from commenting on what someone is wearing on the street to voicing our opinions on images in magazines. So I want you to channel those opinions to these images.
Once these have been done I hope to turn the photo collection and comments into a book and an exhibition at Coventry University. (Date to be confirmed)
So basically what I want you to do is have a look through the photos and give your opinions of the individuals, you are able to comment on as many as you like and be as detailed as you like. I want to know what you think the persons face, clothes, pose tells you about them, do they look like they’re a parent, employed, fun, friendly, mean, etc can you tell what kind of attitude they have towards life just by what they are wearing, would you approach them? I would also like to know if commenting on others has made you consider how you think you’re perceived and how you feel others perceive you.
I would like to thank you now for your participation so keep coming back for more images and tell your friends to tell their friends!!!
You can contact me at nina_oa@hotmail.co.uk if you would like a print of your image, but you must comment on one image first!!
Thank you!!
